As Mollywood gears up for a wave of big-budget releases, the makers of 'Varavu' have confirmed their film will hit theaters on May 1. The action-thriller stars Joju George as Pollachan, affectionately known as Polly, set against a sweeping hill backdrop. Directed by Shaji Kailas, the film marks the duo's first collaboration and is expected to be a career-defining outing for George.

In addition to Joju, the movie features a strong ensemble cast, including veteran actress Vani Viswanath in a prominent role. Eight prominent stunt choreographers — Stunt Silva, Kalai Kingston, Phoenix Prabhu, Rajasekhar Master, Tapasee Master, Mafia Sasi, Jacky Jackson, and several others, are also part of the action-packed film. The film also boasts a notable supporting cast, including Sukhanya, Murali Gopi, Arjun Ashokan, Deepak Parambol, Baburaj, Azees Nedumbangad, Baiju Santhosh, Abhimanyu Thilakan, Bobby Kurian, Aswin Kumar, Vincy Aloshious, Saniya Iyappan, Veena Nair, Kottayam Ramesh, Sreejith Ravi, Sharma, and Chali Pala.

The script is penned by A.K. Sajan, who has previously collaborated with director Shaji Kailas on projects like ‘Red Chilies’, ‘Drhona’, and ‘Chindhamani Kollakase’. The film's music is composed by Sam C S, and the cinematography is handled by S. Saranavan.

However, what makes the release even more intriguing is the film’s clash with ‘Patriot’, a big-budget project directed by Maneesh Narayanan. ‘Patriot’ marks the much-anticipated reunion of legendary superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty, who will appear together on the big screen for the first time in years. Alongside the two megastars, the film also features an ensemble cast that includes Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, Fahadh Faasil, Revathi, Darshan, Zarin Shihab, and Grace Antony, among others.

Although ‘Patriot’ was initially scheduled for release on April 21, the makers have since moved the release date to May 1, ensuring both films will now compete for the audience's attention on the same day.
