Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj is all set to make his much-anticipated acting debut in the romantic action film ‘DC.’ As per Koimoi, the actor is reportedly charging Rs 35 crore as remuneration for his first acting venture, marking the highest ever salary paid to a newcomer in the Tamil film industry. DC is directed by Arun Matheshwaran, known for films like Rocky and Sani Kayidham.
Bollywood actress Vamika Gabbi has been cast as the female lead, starring opposite Lokesh in this high-octane romance. The film’s music will be composed by the talented Anirudh Ravichander, adding to the excitement surrounding the project.
While the news of his acting debut has generated buzz, the Tamil audience is also closely monitoring Lokesh’s future as a director. His last film, ‘Coolie,’ starring the iconic Rajinikanth, received a lukewarm reception at the box office. Lokesh also made headlines earlier when he revealed that he had earned Rs 50 crore as remuneration for Coolie. On top of that, reports of a salary dispute over Kaithi 2, which allegedly led to tension with the film’s producer, have further sparked debates.
Adding fuel to the fire, Lokesh has also been under scrutiny for unfollowing two of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars, Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth, on social media, fueling speculation about his personal and professional relationships in the industry.
