Legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam has been vocal about his choices and views. And this time, he has grabbed eyeballs for his controversial statements on actresses.
The 72 year old was attending an event where he criticised actresses for wearing 'revealing' clothes and slammed them for their 'purposeful' choice.
"These days, actresses don't know what kind of dress they should wear for film events. Should their behavior be taken as an act of innocence? Or do they think that only if they wear revealing outfits will heroes and directors give them opportunities? We have reached an all-time low."
He added, "I wouldn't mind even if my comments anger the heroines. In any case, most of them don't know Telugu, so they won't understand my comments."
Fondly called as SPB, the singer has recorded over 40,000 songs in 16 languages and is also the recipient of six National Film Awards for the Best Male Playback Singer.
On a related note, singer Yesudas too was in the eye of storm a few years ago for making 'jeans' comment. In 2014, while Yesudas was attending an event, he had criticised women for wearing jeans. “What should be covered must be covered. Our culture involves the beauty which should be covered. Women should not trouble others by wearing jeans,” he had said.
This invited protests from women groups and public. Social media had even dragged his daughter-in-law into the controversy back then, by uploading photographs of her in jeans.
