Popular Telugu singer Kalpana Raghavendar, daughter of T S Raghavendra, allegedly attempted suicide at her residence in Hyderabad, police said on Tuesday. As per PTI, the singer is currently under intensive care, though she is out of danger. The police will record her statement after she gains consciousness. 

Police reached her house after being informed by the Residents' Association, where she stayed. The security personnel alerted the residents' association as she did not emerge out of her flat two days in a row.

Doctors treating her said she took sleeping pills, and details would be known after she regains consciousness, a police official at KPHB Police Station told PTI. The official further said the reasons behind the singer resorting to the extreme step were being verified as part of the investigation.

Kalpana made a name for herself after appearing in several reality shows. She has worked with several legendary singers such as MS Viswanathan, Ilaiyaraaja, A R Rahman, KV Mahadevan, SP Balasubrahmanyam, and KS Chithra, in a career that started nearly a decade ago.
