Kochi: Christmas is three months away, but little do cakes know that! The grand 'cake mixing carnival' organised by Hypermarket in Lulu Mall saw a lot of enthusiastic hands at work. The dry fruits were being mixed and made ready to prepare over 30,000 cakes at Lulu. For the cake mixing, a 50-ft long table was arranged in Lulu Mall, and the event took place in full public view on Friday. A whopping 6000kg dry fruits were incorporated into the mixing, including cashew nuts, raisins, tutti frutti, candied cherries, lime peel, orange peel, mixed fruit jam and mixed spices. Music director Gopi Sunder inaugurated the carnival and joined hands with the cake-makers in combining the dry fruits. Lulu Hypermarket manager Sudhish Nair, Lulu Mall business head Shibu Phillip, Lulu Group media coordinator N. B. Swaraj, HR general manager Babu Joseph, Lulu Mall assistant manager K.K. Sherif and Hypermarket fresh food manager Shaji Nair took part in the event. The mixed fruits would be preserved for three months before finally getting down to bake the cake. The cakes are to be made sans alcohol and artificial colours. Gearing up for Christmas, Lulu Mall has about 50 different cakes on their list— premium plum cake, rich plum cake, iced plum cake, sugar-free plum cake, egg-less plum cake, sliced plum cake are a few from the lot.
