Lilliput cooking - preparing tasty dishes in tiny vessels - is a serious business for Valarmathy and Ramkumar, a young couple residing at Tanipetty village at Thiruvannamalai, in Tamil Nadu. In fact, they don't just cook with miniature utensils, but also shoot videos and upload them on their YouTube channel.

The couple owns the ‘The Tiny Foods’ YouTube channel, which enjoys a viewership of over 2 lakhs.

Valarmathy, who is a good cook, got the idea for miniature cooking after watching a Japanese video. She and Ramkumar recreate a miniature Tamil Nadu village with house, farm, bullock cart and other features before the cooking. Though the scale of preparation is small, Valarmathy ensures that the items prepared are the choicest, like Tamil Nadu pongal, Tirupati laddu, Bengali rasgulla, Kolkata fish fry , rice murukku, tandoori roti, Amboor mutton biriyani, Madurai dosa and others. They also prepare vegetable pizza.

Valarmathy, an administrative officer at Dharmapuri village, and Ramkumar, who runs a business at Thiruvannamalai, engage in tiny cooking on Saturdays. In order to ensure continued viewership, they present a fresh dish every week and the event is staged at a new location.

The duo started cooking in small vessels to avoid wastage of food. While Valarmathy does the cooking, Ramkumar shoots and edit the video. The first income received for the YouTube channel has been given away to a farmers’ family. The founders say that further revenue from the channel will be spent for the educational purposes of farmers and their children. This initiative too has received a good response.
