Here's how Sachin Tendulkar cooks his 'baingan ka bharta'

Have you ever wondered what cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar would do in his free time? He sure spends lots of time with his family. However, this women’s day, the master blaster decided to surprise them and successfully pulled off an 'innings' of amazing cooking for his mother, wife Anjaly and his daughter Sara. He prepared a delicious Punjabi dish called 'baingan ka bharta' which has eggplants, tomatoes, onions and fragrant spices in it. Sachin has even posted the video of him cooking this delicious dish for the special women in his life, on his Facebook page.

"I want my mother to taste this first. She has spent hours and hours cooking this for me when I was a kid," Sachin says in the video. Anyways, the mildly spicy dish was loved by his mother who enjoyed it very much. Here is a recipe of the ‘baingan ka bharta’ which won the cricketer plaudits on the social media.

Ingredients
2 large eggplants
2 onions
3 tomatoes
250 gm yogurt
2 tsp chili powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp coriander powder
Salt as required
½ cup oil
2 tsp ginger €“ garlic paste
1 tsp garam masala
Green chilies (for garnish)
Coriander leaves (for garnish)

Preparation
Score the eggplants and roast it over the stove
When the skin begins to burn, peel it and mash it well
Heat oil in a pan
Add onions and sauté well
Into it add the tomatoes and ginger €“ garlic paste
Sauté until the oil separates from the sides of the pan
Add the chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala and salt as required
Mix well and add yogurt into it
Add the mashed eggplant and cook for 5 minutes on low flame
Garnish with chopped green chilies and coriander leaves and a pinch of garam masala.
