Thiruvananthapuram: The capital city is all set to host the Malayala Manorama Ananthapuri Fest. The grand shopping extravaganza will be inaugurated Thursday at 5pm by Mayor K Sreekumar at the Putharikandam Ground. The city would be Kerala's biggest shopping destination for the next 12 days.

Besides the elaborate pavilions of popular electronics group Iham Digital and furniture store Alpha, more than 200 stalls would line up for the shopping fest. Music concerts, led by leading singers and troupes, would entertain the visitors in the evenings.

Kudumbashree eateries

The Kudumbashree beckons food lovers to celebrate the unique flavours and tastes of Kerala as they arrange an elaborate spread of delicious dishes that represent the Malabar, Thirukochi and Travancore areas. They use pure and fresh ingredients to prepare the tasty dishes that would be served at the food stalls. The visitors can even watch their food being cooked in the open kitchen. More than 100 women from 20 Kudumbashree units would run the kitchens and the food stalls in the fest. The dishes of each region would be prepared by women hailing from these areas. Besides, dishes that suit the varying seasons of Kerala too would be served at the festival.

Kappa biryani, beef roast, pathiri and podi chicken curry are some of the local dishes that you can taste at the food stalls. Varieties of fish dishes and biryani too would be served here. Those who visit the Kudumbasree pavilion could avail the special combo packages as well. The festival is open every day from 1pm to 8:30pm.
