Malayalam Pallikoodam School revive authentic Onam dishes

The students at the Malayalam Pallikoodam in Thiruvananthapuram will celebrate this year's Onam by cooking special dishes for ten days from Atham onwards. From olan and kaalan to pachadi and kichadi, the little chefs will prepare the traditional dishes at their homes. The videos and pictures of these will then be uploaded on the various social media platforms. The students will be sharing their ideas on the food safety measures and the significance of healthy cooking that they have learned during the lockdown period.

The school chairman V Madhusudanan Nair said that the students have been enjoying and experimenting with the local and domestic flavours, inspired by the 'natturuchi' course that was included in the syllabus of the school.

The Onam special dishes and the various activities presented by the students would be uploaded on the school's Youtube channel for ten days from Atham to Thiruvonam. The narration of the Mahabharata epic by K Geetha would be aired on the channel on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. The introduction of this program will be presented by V Madhusudanan Nair. He added that programs like these enable little kids to take over the authentic Onam dishes of Kerala from the catering units that are centred around urban areas.
