KTDC organises payasam fests at its hotels across Kerala

Onam is just a week away and Keralites are thrilled to ring in the harvest festival by enjoying delicious payasam. The Kerala Tourism Development Corporation has organised grand payasam fests at its hotels to celebrate the unique culinary culture of the state. Minister of Tourism PA Muhammad Riyas inaugurated the fest at the Chaithram Hotel. KTDC Chairman PK Sasi too was present at the event.

The KTDC has already opened counters at all the prominent spots where a wide variety of payasams would be sold. An array of programs related to Onam have been arranged under the ‘Ee Onam KTDC yodoppam’ tagline. The payasam that is prepared in the traditional style boasts of high quality and great taste. These are prepared by some of the well-known chefs and experts in the state.

The payasam festival at Thiruvananthapuram Mascot Hotel and Grand Chaitram Hotel is from 1 – 8 September. The counter will be open from 9 am to 9 pm every day. From classic Adaprathaman, Bengal gram payasam, Palada and Palpayasam to mango payasam, wheat payasam, pineapple payasam, banana payasam and dal payasam, lovers of this traditional dessert can enjoy a wide variety of payasam. Every day, at least two types of payasam will be available at the counters. Besides, soft and fluffy boli too is served with it. Moreover, authentic Onasadya is available as a parcel for Rs 600 including tax. Meanwhile, it is Rs 400 including tax for 1 litre payasam. The price for half-litre payasam is Rs 200. Sadya is available at Grand Chaitram on the days of Uthradam and Thiruvonam too. You could enjoy the elaborate sadya with more than 24 dishes for just Rs 875 at the Mascot Hotel.

The payasam counters will be open at the Kochi Bolgatty Palace Hotel (4 – 8 September), Nandanam Guruvayur (6 – 8 September), Alappuzha Ripple Land (5 – 8 September), Kannur Loom Land (3 – 8 September), Folk Land Parassinikadavu (4 – 8 September), Thrissur Tamarind Easy Hotel (5 – 8 September), Mannarkad Tamarind Easy Hotel (1 – 8 September), Kondotty Tamarind Easy Hotel (30 August – 8 September), Nilambur Tamarind Easy Hotel (3 – 8 September), Kayamkulam Aahar (4 – 8 September), Erimayoor Aahar (1 – 8 September) and Sreekrishnapuram Aahar (1 – 8 September). The authorities said that the fest is being held strictly following the Covid 19 protocols.
