Namitha Pramod has enchanted Malayali movie goers with her charming smile and incredible acting prowess. The actress, who is equally passionate about entrepreneurship, opened a resto café called ‘Summer Town’ in Kochi a while ago and it instantly grabbed attention as a quality hang-out spot.

The continental dishes served here have also been impressing foodies and families alike. The classic Victorian ambience of the café is another highlight which lures customers in huge numbers.

A foodie herself, Namitha says she was sure she wanted to open a café, when she decided to become an entrepreneur. According to her, being from a family of self-confessed lovers of tasty food and great ambience, starting a chic café at the heart of Kochi city made a lot of sense.

Serving western food
The menu at Summer Town boasts of authentic continental dishes made with high quality ingredients. Namitha says she trusted her own palette while designing the menu at her café. “I love western food. I enjoy trying unique dishes and flavours whenever I travel. In Kochi too, I have been to many cafes. I must say that I have a special love for cafes. These are the perfect cosy spots to spend some amazing time, without stressing about anything,” says Namitha.

However, Namitha confesses that she isn’t a great cook even though she owns a café. She prefers tasting good food than actually cooking them. From planning a new dish to the final tasting, the actress says she makes sure to be involved in every stage of developing a dish. “ I serve a dish to her customers only if she enjoys it. Moreover, I pay heed to customers’ suggestions and preferences before making any changes in the menu or experimenting with new flavours and dishes,” she says.

The menu
Summer Town's menu highlights the classic chicken – cheese combination. Pork and beef ribs and different types of steaks too are popular here. If you are a pasta lover, the cafe offers a variety of combos. Namitha vows that she would be there for the trial and tasting stages even if she doesn’t interfere in other matters.

Namitha says she loves chicken dishes and even cooks the iconic Talassery style biryani. “I got the recipe from my friend Nimmy. The recipe is quite simple and anyone could try it at home. Here's a tip - sprinkle some milk mixed with a pinch of turmeric to add on the flavour,” she reveals.

Cucumber drink
Cucumber is a vegetable that is often considered the go-to pick of a person who follows a diet. No matter what kind of diet is followed, cucumber adds that perfect crunch to salads and other dishes. But, Namitha isn’t a fan of the vegetable and had tried to avoid it. It was one of her friends who once made a unique cucumber drink for her.

“I was surprised that cucumber could taste so good. After that I began eating cucumber. It was a unique drink made with cucumber, milk and condensed milk,” says Namitha. Interestingly, she often calls her friend Nimmy for such amazing recipes. The cucumber drink that floored Namitha is quite easy to make at home. Check out the recipe.
