Lemons and lime are used generously in Indian households as they are an inevitable part of the cuisine. Besides increasing the taste and flavour of the dishes, lime add a dash of vitamin C too.

However, often, we use only half of a lime or a few wedges. The remaining half is stored in the fridge. But, they get dry if they are kept for a longer duration. Here are some tricks to preserve the leftover wedges.

Ice tray
Squeeze the leftover lime wedges into a tumbler. Add sugar or honey to the lime juice. Pour in ice trays and store in the freezer. You could add these cubes while making lemonade or juices.

Marination
Lime juice could be used to marinate fish or meat. A flavoursome marinade paste could be made by mixing lime juice, ginger, garlic and curry leaves.

To clean
Lime is a natural cleaning agent. Sprinkle some salt on the lime wedge and use it to scrub cutting boards, countertops, oven tops or cookware to remove grease.

Adds flavour
Lime juice could be added to sweets and desserts like cakes, tarts, cookies, scones and ice cream. This adds oodles of flavour to the dessert. Besides, lime juice could be added to soups and sauces too.

Salad dressing
Salads are excellent dishes to be included in your regular diet if you are trying to follow a healthy meal plan. You could make tasty salads using vegetables, fruits, sprouts and nuts.

Olive oil, honey, various herbs, sauces, salt and pepper are mostly used as salad dressings. Adding lime juice would take the flavour of the salad dressing a few notches up.
