Meals for ₹20 in Kochi: Samridhi Hotel opens in Fort Kochi

Kochi’s popular low-cost meal initiative has a new address. The Samridhi Hotel by Kochi Corporation has opened near the Ro-Ro Jetty in Fort Kochi, serving a hearty Kerala-style lunch for just ₹20 and breakfast for ₹30.
Set inside a restored two-storey building that once housed the jetty office, it offers two dining experiences: a budget-friendly ground floor and a premium food court upstairs, where a meal costs ₹100 and comes with a stunning view of the jetty. The new outlet was inaugurated recently by MLA K J Maxi, with Mayor M Anil Kumar presiding.
The restaurant is run by a 30-member Kudumbashree team trained in Ernakulam. For now, food is being brought in from the Samridhi hub on Paramara Road, which has already won hearts for its 24x7 affordable meals. Cooking at the Fort Kochi unit will begin soon.
There’s also a simple, homely twist: diners are expected to wash their own plates after eating. The idea keeps things practical and rooted in the spirit of shared responsibility.
With its affordable meals and picture-perfect setting, Samridhi’s Fort Kochi branch continues the city’s promise — that no one in Kochi should ever stay hungry.
