Tweak the Eastern Mediterranean meat kebab to make this sportive little jackfruit kebabs that are just as yummy and easy to fix!
Ingredients
2 cups raw jackfruit, diced
1 cup split Bengal gram
2 onion
1 inch piece ginger
5-6 flakes of garlic
1 tsp cumin seeds
4 cloves
2 black cardamom pods
2 green cardamom
1/4 tsp pepper corn
A small pinch of nutmeg
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp salt
6-7 green chillies
1 cup water
Preparation
Slice raw jackfruit into small pieces. Put them into the pressure cooker and add split Bengal gram
Now, grind ginger, garlic, green chillies, cumin seeds, cloves, black cardamom, green cardamom, nutmeg, mace, pepper corn and onion
Add this ground paste to the cooker, along with red chilli powder, salt and a cup of water
Put the lid and weight on the cooker and let it cook on medium heat for 10 minutes
Once cooked, empty out the boiled jackfruit mixture onto a plate to cool
When it cools, grind this jackfruit mix to a smooth paste
Heat oil in a pan
Add chopped onion, green chillies and fry until the onion turn light brown
Add the fried onion pieces and coriander leaves to the ground paste
Now make small patties or tikkis by taking a bit of the mix and flattening it out on your palm, one after the other
Heat oil in a pan, and fry the tikkis on both sides till they are golden brown in colour. Serve hot with tomato sauce
