A simple yet delicious combination of coconut and pumpkin that would be a perfect addition to your Onam sadya.

Ingredients
Half a pumpkin, cubed
1 cup dal, boiled
½ of one coconut, scraped
1 tsp jeera
4-5 shallots, chopped
1 tsp chilli powder
¼ tsp turmeric powder
3 dried chillies
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 sprig curry leaves
1 tsp coconut oil
Salt, as required

Preparation
Into the boiled dal, add the pumpkin pieces and turmeric powder
Cook on low heat until the pumpkin pieces are cooked properly
Grind together scraped coconut, jeera and chilli powder to form a paste
Once the pumpkin is cooked well, add the coconut paste to the mixture
Cover the vessel and let it cook on low heat for 2-3 minutes
When the mixture starts to boil, take off the flame
Add a seasoning of mustard, shallots, curry leaves and red chillies to the curry
