A pulsating pulse full of health, the toor dal or pigeon pea is often used to make excellent broth curry for rotis. Now, try a stir fry with it that is just as tasty.

Ingredients
1 cup toor dal/split pigeon pea
½ cup shallots
1 garlic pod
2 tbsp oil
Salt, as required
¼ tsp turmeric powder
3 sprigs curry leaves

Preparation
Half boil the toor dal and keep aside
Using the pestle, crush the shallots and garlic
In a pan, heat oil, add the crushed mix along with salt, turmeric and curry leaves. Sauté this well
To this add the cooked dal and stir fry
