Vishu katta

During the Vishu festival, kitchens are caught up in a furore deciding the dishes for the impending feast. To make it easier, try this simple sweet, made rich and delicious with coconut milk

Ingredients
1 cup raw white rice
1 cup green gram
Coconut milk extracted from 2 coconuts
¼ kilo jaggery that has been made into syrup and strained
1 tsp ghee

Preparation
Cook the raw rice and fried green gram in thin coconut milk
Stir it and once the mixture thickens, add the jaggery syrup, mix well and remove from the stove 
Add ghee to this mix and let it thicken up further 
After it cools down, cut it into small blocks or small pieces and serve
