Clams are a favorite of north-Keralite kitchens. This chewy mollusks can be made into a spicy side dish that can replace thoran and fish fries in your lunch.

Ingredients

2 cups of clam meat

¼ tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste

1 cup grated coconut
¼ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp chili powder
Curry leaves as needed
Salt as needed

3 tbsp coconut oil
5.
½ tsp mustard
6.
Few sprigs of curry leaves
7.
1 large onion sliced
2 green chilies chopped
8.
1 small piece crushed ginger
4 pods of garlic crushed

Preparation
Add ingredient number 2 to clam meat to cook it and keep aside
Make a mesh of all ingredients under section number 3
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard and curry leaves. When the mustard breaks, add ingredient number 7 and saute
Add ingredient number 8 to it and stir
When the raw taste is gone, add the mesh to it
Add cooked clam meat to the mixture and cook for a further five minutes with lid closed
Sprinkle a little water if needed
After five minutes, remove the lid and cook till the dish is dry
Serve with rice for lunch
