Yeast is a fermenting agent that is used in many Indian dishes. Here is a recipe for homemade yeast that can be easily made using just 4 ingredients.
2 tbsp all purpose flour
2 tbsp yoghurt
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp honey
¼ cup lukewarm water
Mix the all purpose flour, yoghurt, sugar and honey in lukewarm water without any lumps
Keep it aside for at least 8-12 hours for the mix to ferment
Pour the fermented mixture into a flat bottomed vessel
Allow the mix to dry and then grind it into powder
You could store this yeast for at least two months
Or you could store the liquid yeast mix in an air tight container
Store it in the fridge for not more than a week
The time taken for the fermentation would vary depending upon the climate.
