Crunchy pappadavada

Crunchy and slightly spicy pappadavada is the perfect snack to enjoy with a glass of black tea in the evening. Here is how you could make this popular snack at home.

Ingredients
10 papads
½ cup raw rice or 1 cup rice flour
7 dried chillies or 1 tsp chilli powder
A pinch of turmeric powder
1 tsp black sesame seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds
A pinch of asafetida
¾ cup water
Salt as required
Oil as required

Preparation
Soak the raw rice for 3 -4 hours
After that, wash it well
Put it in a mixer jar along with dried chillies, turmeric powder and water
Grind well into semi-loose batter
Into it add the black sesame seeds, cumin seeds, asafetida and salt
Mix well
Heat oil in a pan
Dip the papads in the batter; both sides should be nicely coated
Fry in hot oil on medium flame
Flip and fry until both sides are golden and crunchy.
