Korean fried chicken which is called ‘chikin’ in Korea has the hearts of millions of foodies around the globe. From the regular fried chicken to the one that is mixed in special sauces, there are quite a few recipes that have grabbed admirers. Yangnyeom – chikin which is seasoned with sweet and spicy sauces is the most popular among them. The double fried chicken pieces are coated in a specially prepared sauce mix before serving. Gochujang, which is a spicy red chili paste, is one of the main ingredients that are added in the special sauce. Pickled radishes make the perfect accompaniment, providing the right amount of crunch. Ingredients
1 kg chicken
1 cup all purpose flour
3 tbsp corn flour
2 tbsp tomato ketchup
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp red chilli paste/sauce
4 -5 garlic cloves
Salt as required
1 tsp pepper powder
1 tsp ginger - garlic paste
1 tbsp vinegar
1 tbsp sugar
Refined oil to fry

Preparation
Marinate the chicken pieces with ginger - garlic paste, salt and pepper
Keep aside for at least an hour; you could also keep it in the fridge
After an hour, dust the marinated chicken in all purpose flour – corn flour mix
Deep fry in hot oil
You could also add the all purpose flour, corn flour and egg in the marinade; fry the chicken later
Or prepare a batter by mixing the all purpose flour and corn flour in some water
Dip the marinated chicken in this batter and fry in hot oil
Take out the chicken from the oil after 10 minutes
After a few minutes, when the oil is hot again, fry the chicken for another 5 minutes
Meanwhile, heat 2 tbsp oil in another pan (you could also use the oil in which the chicken pieces were fried)
Into it add finely chopped garlic, ketchup, soy sauce, red chili sauce, vinegar and sugar
Boil for some time
Add the fried chicken into this sauce
Mix well
Sprinkle some roasted white sesame seeds for garnish
