Roasted Bengal gram murukku

Murukku is a crunchy, spicy 4pm snack that pairs well with the evening cardamom tea. Though it is often made with rice flour as the primary ingredient, several variants of murukku have found fans across south India. Try out this roasted Bengal gram or pottukadala variant of the classic murukku recipe.

Ingredients
2 cups rice flour
¼ cup roasted Bengal gram powder
3 tsp chilli powder
½ tsp asafoetida powder
½ tsp cumin
½ tsp sesame seeds
2 tbsp butter
Oil to fry

Preparation
Mix all the ingredients into a sticky dough
Insert the star mould in an idiyappam presser
Press the dough through it into hot oil
Flip and fry until murukku turns brown and crunchy
Enjoy the roasted Bengal gram dal murukku with a steaming cup of tea.
