Craving a fish fry? Trick your taste buds with this scrumptious fried plantain, instead

If you are going vegan for lent but missing your favourite fried fish for lunch, here's a delicious way to hack your tongue. Give this delicious fried plantain, made with basic ingredients at home, a try.

You can easily pair this easy-to-make veggie version of fish fry with a bowl of rice, and be too distracted by the yumminess to know the difference. Here is the recipe. 

Ingredients
2 plantains
2 small ginger pieces
3 garlic
3 cloves
1 small piece cinnamon
½ tsp cumin
½ tsp pepper corns
½ tsp salt
1 green chili
½ tsp pepper powder
1 tbsp chili powder
¼ tsp turmeric powder
¼ tbsp garam masala
2 tsp yoghurt
2 tsp lemon juice
½ lemon
¼ cup oil

Preparation
Peel the skin and slice the plantains into three
Now cut each piece into half
Shape the edges and cut out a small square piece in the centre to get the shape of fish
Wash the plantains well
Boil water in a steamer
Steam the plantain pieces for 10 minutes
To prepare the marinade, grind the ginger, garlic, cloves, cinnamon, cumin, pepper corns, salt and green chilies with 2 tbsp water in a mixer jar
Add 3 tbsp oil in the marinade paste
Into it add chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, yoghurt and lemon juice
Mix well
Marinate the steamed plantains with this masala
Keep them aside for at least half an hour
Fry the marinated plantains in hot oil
Tasty fried plantains that tastes exactly like fish is ready!
