Everybody loves a good dose of halwa, but not without worrying about its 'high on sugar and oil' side.
If you want to enjoy the dessert guilt-free, you can prepare it at home without adding sugar, oil or ghee.
All you need are aval, jaggery and coconut to prepare this special halwa. Here's the recipe.
1 cup aval (flattened rice)
300 grams jaggery
Roast the flattened rice and powder
Melt the jaggery in half a cup of hot water and filter it
Make three cups of coconut milk in three phases from the coconut
Put the powdered aval into the coconut milk and grind well
Heat the mix in the pan by adding a cup of water
As the mix begins to thicken, pour the jaggery syrup into it and keep stirring
As the jaggery dissolves and the mix reaches a semi-solid consistency, shift it to another vessel
Here, the mouth-watering halwa is ready
Let it cool down, then cut it into pieces of your choice and relish
