Lentils soup: A heart-healthy, classic meal

Nobody has to teach Indians about the health benefits of lentils. While numerous curries, desserts, and more are made of them, they can also be used to prepare a heart-healthy soup that's unforgettably yummy with the numerous spices, veggies, and even coconut milk that are part of it. Here's the classic recipe with a memorable flavour. 

Ingredients
200 gms moong dal
100 gms masoor dal
20 gms finely chopped onions
10 gms chopped garlic
30 gms carrot
50 ml olive oil
Salt to taste
5 gms white pepper powder
3 gms turmeric powder
10 ml lemon juice
5 gms cumin powder
Coconut milk and curry leaves to garnish

Preparation
Wash and boil both the dals together with turmeric powder and carrots for 20 to 25 minutes until it becomes a purée
Heat olive oil in a pan and add chopped garlic and onions
Sauté it until brown and add the boiled dal
Allow to boil and keep it to simmer
Add cumin powder,salt, pepper powder and lemon juice
Turn off the flame serve in a soup bowl and garnish
