The much-awaited season of mangoes and jackfruits is almost here. Slowly and steadily, wide varieties of mangoes are making their way onto store shelves and, eventually, into our homes too. There is surely a strong temptation to throw caution to the wind and welcome them back with big servings onto our plates. However, here are some easy tips to stay prepared and still enjoy the fruit, recommended by many renowned nutritionists over the years. Not only do they help you enjoy the fruit, but they also help you avoid feeling guilty about ruining your fitness journey.

The simple yet smart tips are as follows:
1) Keep walnuts, almonds or flaxseeds at arm's length to grab them along with your daily serving of mangoes. Just don't have the fruit alone. The pairing helps with better digestion, blood sugar levels, skin health, and even enhances heart health.
2) Just done with your daily workout? This is the right time to have your mango variety of the day. Our metabolism is quite high after workouts, and this will ensure we digest the fruit better.

3) Wondering how many mangoes to eat? Here's a simple tip. Cup your hands and see how many mango cubes fit into them. That's the right dose for you today.
4) Don't crush the fruit into pulpy forms like aamras, milkshakes or sugary desserts. This will remove the fruit's fibre and raise our blood sugar levels.

Why not to avoid mangoes in summer
1) Being genetically compatible with our bodies, they will ensure we get the right nutrients for the summer season.
2) Need good skin in summer? Have mangoes as they are rich in beta-carotene, which is found in yellow-coloured foods and can aid our skin. Mangoes are also rich in Vitamin C, B6 and fibre.
3) Nutritionists are quick to bust the popular myth that diabetes patients shouldn't have mangoes. The fruit can help very well with insulin sensitivity. The American Diabetes Association and the Mayo Clinic have also endorsed this view.
