Manorama Online, the flagship portal of the Malayala Manorama group, made yet another crowning achievement featuring in the list of 50 most popular websites in India.
In a space dominated by global giants, Manorama Online is one among the few Indian websites that have bagged the honour. The rating was determined by Alexa, a global web-traffic analysis company owned by Amazon.
According to Alexa’s web ranking, Manorama Online is one of the only seven websites from India that figure in the top-50 most-visited sites in the country. Indiatimes.com, hotstar.com, moneycontrol.com, ICICIBank.com, NDTV.com and Rediff.com are the other Indian websites on the list.
Manorama Online is also one of the only two websites of a daily newspaper to make it to the top 30. The Times of India is the other.
Alexa’s ranking is based on the number of readers and page views of a site.
Facebook is the most popular social media site, with 86% users visiting it, Alexa said. Google tops the search engine list with a 92% market share.
Manorama Online, which was adjudged the best news website in the world by World Association of Newspapers-IFRA (WAN-IFRA) in 2016, bagged the WAN-IFRA South Asian Digital Media Award for the best news website in 2019. It also won the award for the best mobile app.
Onmanorama, the English offering of Manorama Online with over 30 channels, was adjudged the best news website of 2016 by WAN-IFRA.
Since 2012, Manorama’s mobile app has won six global honours.
