Thiruvananthapuram: Kanyakumari-based goon leader who was murdered in Kerala last August has been identified as Peter Kanishkar. Two people were taken into custody the other day by the Kerala Police over his murder. The arrest follows the discovery of human legs at the sewage treatment plant at Muttathara two months ago.
Peter's identity was confirmed after a DNA test of the recovered limbs.

The slain gangster was accused in several cases, including murder, in Tamil Nadu. He had been summoned to Thiruvananthapuram by another person and murdered on August 13 over the rivalry between the two gangs. Valiyathura natives Manu Ramesh and Shehin Shah are in custody.

Manu Ramesh had committed the murder and Shehin Shah had dumped the body parts at various places, according to the police. Only after further interrogation would it be known if more people were involved in the crime.

Two legs were found in the waste plant at Muttathara on August 14. In the subsequent police probe, it was found that the murder was committed over gang rivalry. The goonda leader had been missing since August 12. Efforts to trace the remaining body parts are on.

A probe into those who had enmity towards Peter led the cops to the Valiyathura natives. The details of the people who were reported missing from Thiruvananthapuram and Kanyakumari districts were collected and checked.

The mother of one of the detainees Manu Ramesh is a native of Kanyakumari. He is also an accused in some cases there. A team led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Shangumugham, is probing the case.
