Pathanamthitta: A 39-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his mother-in-law in Vechoochira here on Wednesday following a family dispute linked to his wife's estrangement. The accused, Sunil, was taken into custody by the Vechoochira Police for killing Usha (54).

The incident happened around 3 pm. Sunil and his wife had been living separately for over four years, and he believed that his mother-in-law was the reason for their separation, said an officer at the Vechoochira Police Station. Following an argument, he struck Usha on her head, leading to her death. 

The police are investigating the case and are questioning him, though he has not yet confessed to the crime, the officer added.
