Kasaragod: A Class 12 student was found dead inside her home on her birthday, in a suspected case of suicide, in Kasaragod's Trikaripur grama panchayat.
Chandera Police identified the deceased as Arya, daughter of Umesh Kumar and Saritha of Eyyakkad North. She had turned 17 on July 17.

There were no classes that day due to heavy rain. Her family said Arya had visited a nearby temple in the morning and returned home in a cheerful mood.

The incident occurred around 11.30 am. At the time, only her mother Saritha and younger brother Adarsh were at home. Her father Umesh, who runs a fancy store and does cable TV work in Kalikkadavu, had travelled to Chengannur for work. He started his journey back upon hearing the news of his daughter’s death.

A police officer who had spoken to the family said Arya was a studious child who occasionally experienced stress over academics.
After the inquest, the body was shifted to Kannur Government Medical College Hospital in Pariyaram for autopsy, the officer said.
