Palakkad: A poultry meat shop near the Pattithara Pump House was left in shambles after a mysterious animal broke in at night, killing over 200 chickens.

The incident was discovered when the shop was opened the next morning. Dozens of dead birds lay scattered across the floor, some partially eaten. Shop owner Akbar said the intruder not only killed the birds but also overturned a water bin, suggesting signs of a violent struggle. In total, 270 chickens were reportedly killed.

Officials from the Pattithara Police and the Health Department visited the shop and launched an investigation into the incident. The identity of the animal remains unknown. In the wake of the attack, authorities have urged residents to keep a close watch on their pets and livestock during nighttime hours.
