Kochi: The Haritha Karma Sena in Maradu municipality has rolled out a new initiative to buy e-waste from households and commercial establishments at a fixed rate. Waste suitable for recycling will be collected directly from premises, with payments made per kilogram.

The collected material will be segregated and handed over to government-approved recycling agencies.

The project was inaugurated by Municipal Chairman Anony Asanparambil, who symbolically handed over e-waste from his residence. His wife, Beena Anony, contributed the proceeds from the sale of a 15.5 kg washing machine to the Haritha Karma Sena consortium fund. Municipal Vice-Chairperson Rashmi Sanil presided over the event.
