Kozhikode: A man died and several others sustained injuries after a KSRTC bus collided with two cars near the new Feroke bridge on Friday morning. The incident occurred around 9.30 am. The deceased is Muhammed Basheer (60), native of Thurakkal.

According to eyewitnesses, the speeding KSRTC bus, coming from Feroke Pettah, first hit a car travelling in the opposite direction and then lost control before ramming into another vehicle. “The second car lifted up on the impact of the collision. The deceased was in the second car, which was a Volkswagen Polo,” an eyewitness told Onmanorama.

Authorities shifted the injured to private hospitals for treatment. The accident brought vehicular movement on the new bridge to a standstill. Traffic is currently being diverted through the old Feroke bridge. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
