Edappal: Complaints are mounting over vehicles routinely parking on footpaths in the town, forcing pedestrians to walk on busy roads. In most parts of the town, footpaths are either blocked by parked vehicles or left overgrown with shrubs and bushes.

Along the Edappal–Pattambi road, vehicles occupying footpaths have become a regular sight and the situation is no better on the Ponnani road. In some areas, shopkeepers have also encroached on the footpaths by placing their stock there, adding to public grievances.

Although police complaints have been lodged on several occasions, no effective action has followed. Vehicle owners, meanwhile, opt to park on footpaths to avoid fines imposed for roadside parking that causes traffic congestion.
