Eight-year-old found dead in TVM after mother scolds him for quarrel with twin

Thiruvananthapuram: In a tragic incident, an eight-year-old boy was found dead at his home near Chempazhanthy at 1 pm on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Shreyas, son of Pramod and Mini, residing at Akkaravil House in Chempazhanthy ward, Uliyazhcher village.
According to police, Shreyas and his twin brother Shravan were at home studying when their mother scolded Shreyas for making noise. The boy then went into his room and locked the door from inside. Believing he had gone to sleep, Mini did not check on him immediately.
After some time, when he was not seen, she broke open the bedroom door. She found Shreyas with a curtain cloth tied around his neck, which had been looped through the bedroom window.
Family members and neighbours rushed him to SAT Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram around 1.30 pm, but doctors declared him dead at 1.55 pm. Shreyas is a second-grade student at Manakkal LPS. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated an inquiry.
