Feroke station in Kozhikode achieves awesome facelift under Amrit Bharat scheme

Feroke: The railway station at Feroke underwent a stunning makeover under the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS). A roof that stretches over 5000 square metres has been installed over both platforms. Besides, the floor in the first platform is paved with granite over 1200 square feet.
A new reservation and ticket booking counter with all the modern facilities, lift facilities, and an air-conditioned waiting room too has been built. A vast parking space of 5400 square metres is also part of the renovated station.
Meanwhile, the new entrance area is 11 metres long and nine metres wide. The front yard of the station has been completely paved with interlocking blocks and is beautified with landscaping.
A new walkway, seating arrangement that can accommodate up to 300 passengers, display boards in both platforms, drinking water, lamp posts, charging points and fans are arranged at the station. Besides, the washrooms too are fitted with modern facilities.
More passengers, more income
Meanwhile, initial data shows that the number of passengers travelling via Feroke railway station has gone up by at least one lakh in the last year. The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) is a project under the Ministry of Railways to redevelop 1275 stations across the country. In Kerala, as many as 34 stations fall under the scheme, including Feroke.
