Kozhikode: Twenty-four passengers were injured after two private buses collided on the Meenchanda Mini Bypass Road here on Monday. All the injured were rushed to Aster MIMS Hospital.

“Twenty-four patients sought medical care here. None is in critical condition,” a spokesperson for the hospital told Onmanorama.

The buses, Kuttettan and Moideen, met with the accident around 8.45 am while travelling in opposite directions. It is learnt that Kuttettan veered off the road and hit the rear side of the other vehicle.

Panniyankara police rushed to the spot and coordinated the rescue operations.

“There is a small curve on the road. The bus Kuttettan lost control while taking the turn and collided with the other bus. Due to the impact, Moideen crashed into a tree by the roadside,” said an officer from Panniyankara police station.

Following the accident, traffic on the Mini Bypass was partially disrupted for about an hour. “It took nearly an hour to restore traffic completely as the bus Moideen, was lying across the road,” the officer added.
