Thottakkad: Kashinath can carve just about anything out of wood — and that too, in no time.
A Class 8 student at St. Peter’s Higher Secondary School, Thottakkad, Kashinath is already creating wonders with wood. His fascination with sculpting began when he was in Class 3, starting with simple carvings of flowers and vehicles. What began as a hobby has now blossomed into a remarkable skill, with the young craftsman now designing intricate showcases and even doors for homes.

Kashinath’s talent has also earned him recognition. He won first place in the sub-district-level woodcraft competition and went on to secure fourth place at the district level. The setback, however, has not dampened his enthusiasm.

He is the son of N M Manoj, a carpenter by profession, and Meera, of Nedumattathu Kizhakkethil, R K Padi near Thottakkad. His siblings are Karthik and Krishnajith.
