Nedumudi: The Haritha Karma Sena volunteers are delighted that their representative in the Assembly has listened to their requests. Kuttanad MLA Thomas K Thomas has arranged an e-toilet for the volunteers in the Nedumudi panchayat.

As there is no permanent Material Collection Facility (MCF) here, volunteers usually collect plastic waste under the Nedumudi bridge. The volunteers, mostly women, often struggle because there are no toilet facilities nearby.

Panchayat member PK Vinod brought the issue to the MLA's notice when the latter arrived for the inauguration of the renovated road near the bridge recently. The MLA directed the authorities concerned to install the e-toilet within two days.

The MLA has also promised uniforms, tables and stools for the Haritha Karma Sena volunteers. He has also spoken to Minister MB Rajesh to allow permanent MCF in the panchayat.
