Oman expat driving licence issuances and renewals have witnessed a massive spike, according to the latest figures released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI). Last year, the Sultanate issued and renewed more than 300,112 driving licences for expatriates, reflecting a growing expat workforce and shifting demographic trends.
In comparison, Omani citizens were issued or renewed 227,718 licences during the same period. This brought the grand total of driving licences processed in Oman for 2025 to 527,830, marking a 5.4% increase from the 500,738 licences recorded in 2024.
Out of the total licences processed in 2025, new issuances accounted for 136,491, while the remaining 391,339 were renewals.
The statistics also highlight an impressive medium-term growth pattern. In 2021, Oman registered a total of 338,990 new and renewed driving licences. Comparing this with the 2025 statistics reveals a massive 56% increase in licensing transactions over just four years, pointing to rapid economic expansion and urban development within the Sultanate.
