The classic denim is compatible with almost everything, so pair it with colourful florals or go kaleidoscopic with snazzy prints.

Don't be into trends. Don't let fashion own you but you decide what what you are. What you want to express by the way you dress and the way to live.”- Gianni Versace.

Fashion has evolved and now caters to many more body types than it did a few years ago. A bold new phase is blending the new with the old to create apparels that will last both time and tide. While fashion is constant, there are some items that repeat themselves and are considered fashion basics. Besides, the industry is slowly moving towards sustainable forms of fashion and here are a few items that can reign supreme in all seasons.

Denim: Fashion repeats itself and denim is one apparel that can never go wrong. Jean skirts are returning with an oomph and now come with high waists, ruffles and slits, among many other creative additions. The classic denim is compatible with almost everything, so pair it with colourful florals or go kaleidoscopic with snazzy prints. Denim on denim is a timeless combination and can never go wrong. A classic plain denim jacket and skirt combination is deadly if you're feeling blue and casual or pair a ruffled or slit denim skirt with a colorful t-shirt. It also pairs well with button-downs, cropped tops, strappy tops, t-shirts and ruffle tops. Ripped denim skirts are also slowly making an entrance and can take the wearer from rebellious in dark colours to sweet and summery with a print or floral top.

Bustier tops: To most Indians it may look like the stray top part of a lehenga or at worst be called a blouse, but a bustier top is none of the above. Though it serves many purposes in modern day fashion, the bustier is known for its plunging necklines, bright, bold shades and summery vibes. Patterns and prints drift from neon to florals or go grungy with lace trim and monochrome colours. Light colours can be paired with loose trousers, ghagra or tutu skirts, or high-waist denims. Plain, dark bustiers can be coupled with colourful jackets or oversized shrugs. If you aren't comfortable showing skin, you can wear a lace or floral bustier over a plain t-shirt or pair a plain bustier with a print cropped top.

Wrap dress: Dresses come in many forms and while all of them are genius inventions, the wrap dress sounds like a good choice to stay breezy. Wrap dresses usually are tied on the side or front and permit a lot of free room for movement and ventilation. It gives a beach or playful vibe but can also be worn for formal events like wedding or baby showers, dinners or family gatherings. The dress comes in many colours and prints as well as sizes that go from knee-length to your ankles. Wrap dresses lean toward playful, light colours and are usually plain but bold, dark shades may merge together in prints. The benefits of light dresses are that they are easy to wash, absorb less sweat than heavy material and are basics for tropical or hot weather. In case of a chill, a denim jacket or plain-coloured cardigan would look ideal.

High-waist trousers: A formal occasion can be tricky if you're not a heavy dresser or in case of bad weather. Your rescue lies in high-waist trousers or pants that be loose at the waist and can be cinched with a belt or sash. The material is light and the high-waist allows you to pair it with cute tops or formals that can be tucked in. The occasion can shape your look with white, black and grey for a corporate or business image and happy-chic with a bustier or spaghetti. A loose tunic and long shirt can also couple well depending on its design and colour. Safe colours for these trousers would be grey, blue or black and it clips off at the ankles though longer pants also exist. These are best suited for business dinners and outings to office wear. These trousers often end in pencil shape and are perfect to pair with a medium-sized kurta.

Jogger pants: While the use was initially as the name suggested, for jogging, time has turned this simple clothing accessory into a celebrity commonality. Loose joggers paired with cropped tops, spaghetti tops or plain shirts are the easiest to put on and leave the house. Surprisingly many celebrities have chosen this accessory in finer materials like suede or leather to represent them at after-parties and even award shows. Jogger pants are breezy and avoid sticking to your body unlike denims. The pairing depends on occasion and while the traditional joggers are easy with any colour or print for a casual run to a cafe or grocery store, fancy joggers come in denim, suede and leather and are best paired with a bustier, cropped or sheer top with or without a denim jacket.
