Fifth edition of Manorama News’ ‘Kerala Can’ begins

Thiruvalla: The fifth edition of ‘Kerala Can’, a social initiative by the Manorama News to spread awareness against cancer, was inaugurated by Believers Eastern Church supremo Mor Athanasius Yohan Metropolitan on Saturday.

“The purpose of life is to give others an opportunity to live through us,” said Mor Athanasius Yohan Metropolitan during the inaugural address.

"To understand this, one only needs to visit the cancer hospitals. When we directly interact with the patients, know their problems and console them, our lives become meaningful,” he added.

Lauding the initiative, Malayalam actress Manju Warrier also said that Manorama News’ ‘Kerala Can’ was able to dispel several wrong notions about cancer through its previous editions. "Cancer is never the last word in life. It's when life demands endurance that we actually live.”

Mathew T Thomas MLA presided over the event. Actor Krishna Prasad, Believers Church medical college hospital director Dr George Chandy Matteethra, and Manorama News senior coordinating editor Romy Mathew spoke on the occasion.

Several people took part in the cancer diagnosis camp that was held as part of the inauguration.
