Break the chain not relations in this lockdown period

There is a lockdown is in place. But your life should not be shut down. Instead, good thoughts must fill your mind, making life beautiful. For this, the following steps can be taken.

» In these times of COVID-19 tests, we now tremble hearing the word ‘positive’. Events we face have no parallel in history but success can be achieved in a tough exam if we face it with a calm mind. We should obey the instructions of the government and health professionals in this difficult period.

» Discipline and punishment are in place for our own sake to overcome the present crisis. Those who do not practise discipline are inviting punishment for their families as well as the society.

» Lockdown has given us a chance to ‘Break the chain & Make the family.’ A family is live summit in which relationships matter. The lockdown gives us an opportunity to spend quality time with children. However, if you waste the time by making yourself busy with social media, it could break relationships.

» It is said that an idea can change your life. Lockdown is a big opportunity to come out of your alcohol habit. Take a brave step; a U-turn in your life. However, if you suffer from health problems after keeping away from alcohol, seek de-addiction treatment. I've conducted research on the topic ‘How teenage children of alcoholics in Kerala cope with life’ and has travelled widely across the state as part of the work. From experience, it can be said that a good decision by a person consuming alcohol can change the family as well as society for the better.

» Time management is crucial during lockdown. Prepare a timetable and it can include activities such as music, art and so on. Story and poetry writing could also be taken up. Lockdown can help you give more attention to personal hygiene, health, exercise, gardening, growing vegetables, prayers, meditation and fasting. You can also complete pending work and make telephone calls to revive old friendships.

» Isolation can be a period of rebuilding too. Never try to denigrate yourself. Instead, engage in self-evaluation, corrections and re-dedication. Reading, music therapy and phone call would be helpful in this regard.

» Practise physical distancing and emotional attachment. Keep a safe physical distance from others but be close to them emotionally. Meanwhile, wash hands with soap regularly and use an alcohol-based sanitizer.

» Engage in share-and-care with people in isolation who are known to you. Making a phone call boosts their confidence and it is a means of palliative therapy too. In addition, share essential items. Helping people in need is a noble gesture.

» Clapping and offering a big salute to those who are working strenuously to save humanity will be huge positive stroke. Don’t show any hesitation in this matter.
