When Merlin vowed to reduce her weight and belly fat, her husband dismissed it as yet another unfulfilled promise. However, he was in for a surprise when Merlin trimmed down to a healthy weight in just two months. Merlin, who lives in Washington DC recalls her weight loss journey and shares her unique work out pattern and diet. Hailing from Pala in Kottayam, Merlin is settled in the United States with her husband and three children. She works as a QA manager in a prominent IT company there.
Merlin confesses that desserts and sweets have been her weakness. She wouldn’t get bored of binging on the sugary treats. Other than an occasional stroll, she never bothered to exercise or didn’t have a work out routine. Besides, three C sections resulted in a big and flabby belly. Even though she had tried to reduce weight in the past, Merlin gave it up as she thought it was a difficult task. However, this time, she was determined and promised herself to lose weight and reduce the belly fat in a healthy way.
Reducing belly fat
Merlin’s biggest desire was to reduce the belly fat which had become 104 centimetres. She joined an online fitness and fat loss group for proper guidance and training. Though she was enthusiastic to join the group, she wasn’t sure whether she would continue the work outs and diet. “As each day passed, I had a feeling that things could work for me this time. They gave me proper instructions about the diet and work outs. Earlier, I had no idea about the calories in the food that I ate or the kind of work outs that I should do to reduce my weight. Moreover, I didn’t know that I had to do specific workouts for each body part in order to trim down. I was really happy that I could contact my trainer online at any time,” says Merlin.
Merlin weighed 66.5 kilos and had a belly circumference of 104 centimetres when she joined the fat loss group. Within just two months she was able to reduce 9.5 kilos and reached an ideal weight of 57 kilos. Meanwhile, her belly reduced to 84 centimetres. Merlin says that her husband and kids were surprised by her spectacular transformation. They hardly expected her to keep her promise this time, as they have often warned her about her increasing body weight. She is glad that HIIT and resistance workouts have proved to be effective for her. Most importantly, Merlin was inspired by her husband and children’s incredible support and encouragement.
Diet and work out
Merlin checked her weight only two months after starting the diet and the workouts. Meanwhile, her husband and colleagues hinted that they could see changes. However, Merlin didn’t bother to check her weight or measure her belly circumference. She was surprised when she realised that she had lost almost 10 kilos in just two months. Her initial hesitation gave way to confidence and determination. Now, Merlin is brimming with positive energy and excitement.
Merlin says that she decided to lose weight when she was diagnosed with some health problems. She found out that her blood pressure levels were shooting. As she didn’t want to start lifelong medication, Merlin decided to try reducing weight as a last resort. As she lost weight, her blood pressure too became normal. “We often enjoy kayaking and cycling tours as a family activity. I was worried that I would miss out on these if my weight continued to go up. I thought that the difficulty that I felt during cycling was sort of a warning. I couldn’t imagine stopping these activities that I enjoy with my family. So, the only way was to lose weight. Success came my way when I was determined to work hard. Most importantly, I feel younger and confident when I wear outfits that are 10 or 15 years old,” smiles Merlin.
