Not able to knock off that belly fat and extra pounds? How about trying out some food to keep them away? Here are some foods that speed up your metabolism and help in reducing weight and removing your belly fat. Along with reducing body fat, they also add enough protein and fibre to your body.

Egg: Choline is a nutrient that plays an important role in building the lining of cells in the body. Eggs are a rich source of this nutrient. Choline deficiency is linked to genes that cause fat to build up in the organs, especially around the liver. Eggs are high in protein, which can make you feel full for a longer period of time.

Fish and Meat: Incorporating low-fat meats and fish into your diet can stave off the appetite hormone ghrelin. A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition points out that this may help in preventing overeating.

Green leaves: Energy-rich and calorie less vegetables and leaves such as spinach, microgreens and lettuce should be included in the diet. The fibre in them improves metabolism and helps in reducing stomach cramps.

Dark chocolate: Dark chocolate curbs your appetite and stops you from overreacting. So dark chocolate also helps in controlling weight.

Cherries: Low-fat, low-calorie cherries are high in fibre, vitamin C and potassium. Cherry fruit helps in slowing down the digestive process and preventing hunger for a long time. Because of the low glycemic index, it can cause only a slight increase in blood sugar and insulin levels.

Whole spices: Indian food cannot be complete without whole spices like pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves or turmeric. This not only adds flavour to the food but also controls obesity.

Plant-based proteins: Low-sugar, high-fibre plant-based proteins can also help men lose weight. Nuts, seeds, soy cheese and legumes are examples of this.

Healthy fibre: Including gluten-free whole grains in the diet, such as quinoa and brown rice, can also help you lose weight.
