The 'election mood' in the Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency is hotter than the blazing summer heat in the state. However, Shashi Tharoor, Rajeev Chandrasekhar and Pannyan Raveendran - the candidates of the capital city - have their means to cool off as they explore the length and breadth of the constituency in peak summer till the election scheduled for April 26. Some of their 'summer hacks,' revealed at a recent interaction with Manorama Online, might puzzle the common man, but they work for them!

Tharoor can't say no to hot tea
Interesting, the sitting MP Shashi Tharoor said that for the people of the capital city, a hot tea is a must even during summer. Apparently, he picked up the habit after moving to Thiruvananthapuram. The MP said he enjoys every tea he is offered and they help him with his cough and cold as well. Tharoor has famously said that he prefers a hot climate over the cold seasons in the west. He also turns to tender coconut water at times to cool off.

Pannyan says 'no' to ice water
While for many a bottle of ice-cold water can be a relief in summer, Pannyan Raveendran apparently drinks only lukewarm water. Interestingly, he isn't too comfortable in air-conditioned rooms either.  The veteran leader said he takes lemon tea shots regularly. The 78-year-old mentioned that he also makes sure that he takes his medicines before leaving for the election campaigns in the morning.

Lemon soda, the best option for Rajeev
Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said his favourite summer drink is lemon soda, as it cools you off in no time. Apparently, he doesn't care about the size of the shop he buys the drink from. He also has a habit of storing a few fruits in his vehicle, especially orange, while going out for the campaign and said when it's hot, having at least two slices of orange is a relief. At the same time, he also takes any drinks offered from the homes he visits - be it tea, lemon juice or other drinks.
