Indore to be cataract and TB-free: Details

Madhya Pradesh's Indore district is all set to be tuberculosis (TB) and cataract-free this year. The district is running a campaign for the same, offering free operations to patients. By the end of February, the authorities also aim to complete cataract surgeries and distribute glasses to patients. Eye camps will be soon organised in association with Indore's ophthalmology clinics in the coming weeks. From Jan 26, over 1.5 lakh people will be tested for TB. Indore has been trending on Google for more than 11 hours. Here's how the anti-TB campaign will be undertaken:
1) Door-to-door lung testing
2) Additional screenings for lung cancer, asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
3) Patients who were previously tested negative will also be re-tested.
4) The Interferon-Gamma Release Assay (IGRA) test will also be done to assess future risk possibilities.
Symptoms of TB
According to the Mayo Clinic, TB infection is caused by TB germs and multiply in the lungs. The symptoms of the disease can change depending on its intensity, but the general signs are:
1) Tiredness
2) Cough
3) Low fever
4) Coughing up mucus or blood
5) Chest pain
6) Night sweats
7) chills
8) Weight loss
9) Disinterest towards food
10) General exhaustion
Symptoms of cataract
1) Dim, blurred, clouded vision
2) Yellowing of colours as per our vision
3) Double vision in one eye
4) Sensitivity to light
5) Halos appearing around lights
6) Frequent changes in lens prescription
7) Difficulties in night vision
