Renowned Malayalam influencer Veena Mukundan, known for her interviews with celebrities, was spotted wearing shades in some of her recent videos. Many of her followers probed why she was wearing sunglasses when her guests weren't and also opined that the look didn't suit her. Veena also took part in a handful of events in the get-up, further fuelling speculation. Just recently, she revealed her reason for covering her face with glasses for the past few days.
Apparently, Veena was suffering from a condition in which the area around her right eye was swollen due to the inflammation in her cornea. It is called 'edema on right eyelid.' Veena reveals that her doctor explained to her that it can happen for many reasons and can take around 10 days to heal. Though the swelling was severe enough to briefly close her right eye and even spread a bit to her left, it gradually improved on its own with the medicines prescribed by her doctor.

Edema on right eyelid
Generally, corneal edema is caused by infection or injury on your cornea (dome-shaped outer layer of the eye that covers the coloured part of the eye, the iris). According to the Cleveland Clinic, it can also happen due to inflammation after surgery or inherited conditions. Fluid builds up in the cornea to cause swelling, which can also cause vision problems. Here are a few symptoms of edema:
1) Sensitivity to light
2) Blurred vision
3) Discomfort in the eye
4) Seeing halos around lights
The edema can also be an indication that you need treatment for other underlying conditions. It's important to take medical help early.
