Is your leg swollen? Foot problems that can indicate severe health crisis

The foot, which bears the weight of the entire human body, is often ignored even though it gives certain signs about our health condition. From severe kidney damage to malnutrition, feet can give warning signs about many diseases. Do not ignore these five-foot problems, as they could be symptoms of a severe health crisis.
Inflammation of legs
Inflammation or swelling on the legs and feet may be caused by lymphatic congestion. It occurs when the lymphatic system cannot drain lymph fluid, leading to fluid buildup. Inflammation could also indicate severe stress on the kidneys and liver, as these two organs are responsible for maintaining fluid balance. Prolonged inflammation or swelling of the legs and feet may put stress on the heart. So, if the inflammation is painful and doesn’t settle even after one or two days, do not hesitate to seek medical treatment.
Fungal infection
Fungal infection on the foot may be a sign of diseases or infection in other organs in the body. Some infections may be caused by an imbalance in the gut microbiome or may indicate an increase in the number of harmful bacteria. An imbalance in blood sugar levels may also cause a fungal infection on the foot. Wearing dirty footwear or wet shoes could worsen this condition. Seeking medical help is essential if the infection persists.
Cracked heels
Most people consider cracked heels a cosmetic problem rather than an indicator of an underlying health problem. Thyroid problems could adversely affect the texture and moisture level of skin. Besides, cracks may appear on the heels if the liver isn’t functioning properly. Toxins begin to build up when the liver doesn’t function properly, making the skin drier and the heels cracked. Deficiency of vitamins E, B3, and C may also lead to cracked and painful heels.
Foot numbness
Foot numbness may be a sign of peripheral neuropathy. It is often related to vitamin B12 deficiency and blood sugar levels. Metal toxicity, which injures the nerves, is another reason why you may feel foot numbness. Make sure to seek proper medical attention, as foot numbness is a symptom that shouldn’t be taken lightly.
Cold feet
If you notice cold feet, immediate remedies are required. They are often caused by poor blood circulation or vascular problems due to a sedentary lifestyle. Conditions like hypothyroidism may reduce blood flow, causing cold feet. Stress and adrenal fatigue are also possible causes.
