Kottayam: At 37, Midhun Ashok, a resident of Beacon Mayfair (Flat 7G) in Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram, has faced more health challenges than most could imagine. However, despite undergoing two kidney transplants and over 320 dialysis sessions, Midhun has refused to let these obstacles define his life. Now, he is all set to represent India at the World Transplant Games in Germany, carrying the message of life and hope. The games are scheduled from August 17 to 24.
Midhun received his first kidney transplant in 2008, donated by an unrelated individual. He suffered further kidney damage after contracting pneumonia during the COVID-19 period in 2019–2020. His sister, Shruthi, then donated her kidney to him, saving his life once again.
How he manages fitness
To manage the side effects of his medications and stay active, Midhun practised darts, a sport in which he will also compete at the World Transplant Games, specifically for athletes with transplanted organs. Midhun works with SBI in Thiruvananthapuram. His wife, TJ Anu, is a software engineer. The couple has two children, Aniya and Aryan.
